About Me

My name is Samantha McGrath and I am a surface pattern and textile designer from Maine. I am heavily inspired by the natural world, and enjoy using imagery of my close surroundings into my designs. Sustainability and Biophilia are both elements I seek to integrate into my designs. I am able to do this in several different ways which include using recycled and dead stock materials, choosing low waste processes, and being conscious of my output by limiting over production.

I enjoy designing for a multitude of purposes including both fashion and interiors. I also enjoy using a wide variety of processes and materials including fabric, wallpaper, and harder materials like slate and wood. While I have experience with a wide range of processes, I particularly enjoy digital embroidery and laser cutting and engraving. I am always seeking to evolve my design development through experimentation and enjoy testing multistep processes on pieces.
